Ways To Get Involved

It’s imperative that community members participate and support this program and its strategies to interrupt the cycle of violence. You can do this by:

Reporting suspicious activity

Strengthening ties with police

Attending neighborhood association meetings and/or joining the Neighborhood Watch group on your street

Reading David M. Kennedy’s book with your friends, family, co-workers and neighbors, and discussing the goals and objectives of the program

Get Involved with Peoria Community Against Violence (PCAV).

In order for the “Don’t Shoot” initiative to be successful in Peoria, the community has to play an active role. We need to band together for the sake of our youth and help them recognize they are not alone—that there are people and resources available to assist them. We need to show our youth their community cares and wants them to succeed.

We can do that by volunteering our time at any of these honorable organizations. Find the right volunteer opportunity for you and make a difference.
